Message	most likely you have subwoofer controlles in the head unit. Read the manual. The output through your sub cable has a crossover and level settings. They are probably set so that the sub is putting out a deeper bass. When you push your buttons, you are hearing the woofer do things it shouldn't if set up correctly. Check your crossover settings and level settings.
